Turnip – (Brassica rapa subsp. rapa). Turnips are fast-growing tubers. Sow in March/April in the final spot for an early harvest. Harvesting can be done as early as a month and a half after that. If necessary, sow a little every week to extend the harvest period. For fall harvest, sow in July/August. Turnips like a light, airy, compost-rich soil. Turnips are more affected by pests in summer than in fall and winter.
