Leaf celery – (Apium graveolens var. secalinum) is related to celery. Pre-sow in March/April in pots in the greenhouse or on the windowsill, in May, June sow in open ground. Because it takes a long time for the seed to germinate, it is difficult to distinguish between emerged weeds and germinating seeds; therefore keep the seedbed free of weeds. Leaf celery favours well fertilized soil and a spot in partial shade. Then it can grow into a substantial plant.
It can be harvested regularly; the plant continues to grow, but the growth has stopped in the fall. Celery leaves are not very susceptible to disease. Dig out a plant in the fall and put it in the greenhouse or in a pot outside by the kitchen door. Then you have another winter of leaf celery.
