Grape erineum mite (Eriophyes vitis). A small eight-legged arachnid arthropod (like the spider), that lives on grape plants (vines). Despite leaf damage, the grape crop usually remains intact.

Where to find

  • Grape

Control

Remove leaves that show blisters. Spray the underside of the leaves regularly with a hard jet of water to remove any mites.

Prevention

Remove the loose bark of the grape, as that is where the females of the mite overwinter. There may also be mites in the buds; treat the buds with soapy water spray.
